Project commenced: 2022
Architect: Studio Katz

This project began in 2022 under a negotiated contract, setting the stage for a rewarding transformation in a home with a generous backyard and coveted north-facing aspect.
At the outset, the outdoor space was far from inspiring — a weathered fibrocement laundry sat awkwardly in the middle of the yard, breaking up what could be a beautiful flow. We stripped everything back, demolishing the existing structures, excavating the area, and reimagining it completely.
The result is a calm, sun-drenched retreat, complete with new paving, integrated bench seating, and thoughtful landscaping. Large bifold doors now open from the living space into this garden sanctuary, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor connection that enhances both light and livability.
Inside, the kitchen was completely renewed with a modern, timeless design. Brass accents and stone splashback tiles add warmth and personality, turning the heart of the home into a functional yet inviting space.
The owners also had a clever request: a flexible study area that could double as a guest bedroom. To achieve this, we installed floor-to-ceiling solid poly doors on a concealed heavy-duty track system, integrated discreetly into the ceiling.
The engineering required a custom-built structure hidden within the roof cavity to support the significant door weight. With precise tolerances and detailed coordination, the system now operates smoothly — offering flexibility without compromising aesthetics.
